Profile

I have worked in costume for eight years, most recently as a supervisor and buyer for HETV and film productions such as The Nevers (HBO), Fisherman’s Friends: One and All (Fred Films) and Witchfinder (BBC). I also design for smaller scale projects including award-winning drama documentary Royal Autopsy (Sky) and independent film Jellyfish (Nikolas Nolttum). I have a particular passion for period costume, and a strong knowledge of costume history with a BA in History and an MA in Costume Design for Performance. I have also lectured in History of Costume for Bristol Old Vic for the past three years. Creativity combined with high levels of organisation and adaptability mean that I can always be relied upon to achieve the best results, making the most of resources available. I love being part of a creative team, and am always open to new projects and opportunities.

My particular strengths include a strong creative eye, meticulous organisation and budget management, script breakdown and continuity, knowledge of fabrics and components and great hire and buying contacts. I have been fortunate to work on varied projects during my career including live performance, leading me to become adaptable and always ready to meet new challenges, with an instinctual problem-solving approach.

I am a member of the ScreenSkills Job Share Programme and  am particularly looking for projects that allow for more flexible working patterns such as job share and part time. I would like to expand my network to allow me to access more opportunities in HETV and film that provide a better work life balance and I would consider shadowing and trainee roles across the art department.

Testimonials

" I love working with Bronya, and she would be my first choice of collaborator on any project. She is a fabulous colleague -always supportive, calm and professional under pressure, resourceful and energetic in pursuing the best outcome, has a wonderful eye and discerning taste. She can source people and things quickly and efficiently, manage a budget without compromising a vision and relate to performers, creatives and makers. She is a great source of advice and technical knowledge of costume history and construction. I am a theatre designer who has had the pleasure of working with her as a costume supervisor in theatre and have great pleasure in recommending her."

"Bronya was totally brilliant as Costume Designer/Supervisor for our production of Singin’ in the Rain at the Adelphi Theatre on the West End. Bronya led a wonderful team of volunteers to put together over 300 costumes on time and miraculously on budget. The show looked fabulous and extremely professional. The entire event was for charity (Lewy Body Dementia). Bronya is extremely dedicated and committed to what she does so brilliantly. She clearly had the support of her team at all times, no matter how big the task was. Thank you very much Bronya! "

Ian Haig - Producer, Showtime Challenge for "Singing in the Rain"
